Michelle Englot of Regina
will represent Saskatchewan at the Canadian Scotties Tournament of Hearts in
Regina. Englot edged Stefanie Lawton of Saskatoon, 5-4 in the Championship
Final Sunday at the
Provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts at the North Battleford Civic Centre.
Englot received the bye to the final by
being awarded first place after the completion of the round-robin Saturday. Englot along with
Lawton and Saskatoon's Ros Stewart
all finished with 6-2 records with no clear winner between
the three. The draw to the button before the first draw was used to determine
the top team leaving the head-to-head decision between Stewart and Lawton to
determine 2nd which was awarded to Stewart.
In the
semi-final Saturday night, Lawton defeated Stewart, 7-5 to advance to the final.
Englot secured
the berth to the final by beating Stewart in the final round-robin draw, 7-3
while Lawton pulled into the playoff picture with a 7-1 win over Angela Gordon
of Regina.
In other final
round games, Sherry Anderson of Delisle stole the game from Linda Burnham,
skipped by Kathy Thiele, 11-7 in an extra end. Anderson finished with a 5-3
records while Burnham was 3-5 tied with Gordon and Amber Holland of Regina.
Holland defeated Yorkton's Cathy Trowell, 8-1.
Rounding out the
standings were Trowell and Rene Miettinen of Saskatoon with records of 2-6.
Kathy Thiele, who skipped for Linda Burnham won
the Marj Mitchell Award.
The winner of the Sunday's final will represent Saskatchewan
at the 2008 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in
Regina, February 16-24, 2008.

Stefanie Lawton
of Saskatoon received a bye directly into the Provincial Championship finishing
as the highest Saskatchewan
women's team on the Canadian rankings.
Qualifying from
the Northern Playdowns in Melfort were "A" event winner,
Ros Stewart, Rene Miettinen
from the "B" event and Cathy Trowell and Sherry Anderson from the "C" Event.

playdowns in Lumsden, Angela Gordon won the "A" berth while Amber Holland took
